About the Iron Horse Grill

The Iron Horse Grill, has been refreshingly overhauled. James and Megan Lowe bought the place at 1030 N. Business 35 in the fall of 2006 and have spent that time turning this once smoky beer joint into a clean, family-friendly, casual dining establishment.

First thing you notice when you walk in the door – it’s clean and bright, but with all the charm of a the weathered New Braunfels mainstay that it is. Prices are still great, but the menu has been expanded and improved and daily specials are available in addition to traditional hand breaded chicken fried steak and chicken, plus other good old-fashioned offerings. The burger, voted the best in town by the locals, is a can’t miss. Don’t forget to add some hand-cut french fries, hand-battered onion rings or fried pickles to your order.

Place your order at the counter and your food will be brought out to you once it’s ready. Grab a cold beer if you like and head out to the patio if the weather is nice. The opening of the backyard has vastly improved the ambiance at The Horse, as regulars have come to call it, and you’re as likely to run into one of your buddies listening to the live music on weekend nights as you are to see a family celebrating a big baseball win. We even have a playground for the kiddos.

Once the food has been brought to you and you’ve stuffed yourself on the tasty American fare, feel free to stick around for a bit. Go inside and catch the game on one of the TVs, or hang around, crack pecans and enjoy the live music that is offered on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

The Iron Horse has been around for awhile, but if you haven’t been recently, come see what James and Megan have done to the place. You’ll be in for a treat.
